My Story
A tapestry woven of a lineage of bespoke makers; Shayna has honed and polished her skills as an artist since childhood. Her Grandmother instilled in her a deep reverence for a well-crafted object. She was an apprentice to a dressmaker in Hungary as a child, survived a Holocaust concentration camp, and afterward settled in New York. She became a pattern maker in the NY fashion district, and her haute couture clothing craft was passed down to Shayna, serving as a model transformed from fine fabric to precious metal. Shayna’s devotion to creating ultimately resulted in fine art jewelry. The sketch, the story, the alluring pull of a rare gemstone. The form and intimacy of crafting precious metal by hand using traditional methods. The euphoria experienced upon finishing a detailed, time-intensive wearable work of art.
Shayna studied jewelry and metalsmithing, completing her BFA, at the University of Wisconsin and has continued her formal education through professional workshops and technical courses.
She creates bespoke jewelry for clients as well as a collection of contemporary ready-to-wear pieces from her Wisconsin studio. Shayna’s signature aesthetic merges elegant details like hand-forged gold chain, textural sculpted facets and beadwork tapestry in precious metal framework. Thoughtfully designed and expertly crafted, every piece of Shayna Jewelry is distinctive and personal – a modern, wearable heirloom.
